DataOS 2: Frequently Asked Questions

Answering all your questions about the upcoming release of DataOS 2

Written by Zak Wash

We’re excited to be releasing DataOS 2, the newest version of the data layer behind GrowthOS. Read on to learn more about how DataOS 2 will make it faster and easier to refresh your data. Every customer will be moving across between September and November 2026.

This page answers the questions we hear most often. If yours is not here, contact your Data Solutions Manager.

The basics

What is DataOS 2?

DataOS is the part of GrowthOS that takes in your data, labels it, and prepares it for modelling. DataOS 2 is a rebuild of that layer. It uses agents to label your data, lets you refresh your numbers whenever you want, and watches your sales figures for movements you did not expect.

Why are you changing it?

The current version puts a lot of manual work on you and on us. Every new file needs labelling. Events have to be supplied manually. Refreshes wait for a schedule. DataOS 2 removes most of that work and gives you control over when your numbers update.

Does GrowthOS change too?

No. GrowthOS, MAITE and Scenario Builder aren’t changing. The change sits underneath them, in how your data arrives and gets prepared. The Data section of the platform has a new layout.

Does this cost anything?

No. We’re thrilled to offer DataOS 2 as a free upgrade to improve your Mutinex experience.

How do I access DataOS 2?

Once you have migrated, DataOS 2 will be available at https://growthos.mutinex.co/data. The https://dataos.mutinex.co URL will be phased out.

What's happening to Data Source level approvals?

DataOS 2 does not support Data Source level approvals. We'll look to introduce a new and improved version of this functionality in the future.

Your migration

When do I move?

We are moving customers in groups. Your group depends on the shape of your data and how much of your feed already runs without manual steps. We will email you prior to your migration and confirm it in writing.

Can I choose my date?

Tell your Data Solutions Manager if a date clashes with an important deadline. We will move you to a later group where we can.

Can I stay on the current version?

No. Every customer will move across by the end of 2026. The current version is retired after that.

How long is my data unavailable?

There will be a 15-minute changeover while we migrate you across to DataOS 2. After that, data will continue flowing as normal.

What do I need to do before my move?

Nothing. Keep sending data the way you do today. We will contact you if we need anything from you.

What do I need to do after my move?

Log in and get familiar with the new platform. All your existing data sources, connectors and historical data will be available. When you are next ready to refresh, review your data and hit Run Model from the dashboard.

What if something goes wrong?

Contact your Data Success Manager. We’ll work to resolve any issues as quickly as possible.

Your data

Will my numbers change?

Your historical data comes across unchanged. That includes any previously applied labels and exclusions.

What happens to my existing labels?

We carry them across. Labels you set by hand become agentic rules, so a correction you made once keeps applying to every file after that.

Do I need to change my file formats?

No. Your formats, column names, and delivery schedules stay the same.

What happens to my historical data?

It comes across in full. You keep your complete history in GrowthOS.

Can I still upload a CSV by hand?

Yes. Manual CSV upload works the same way it does today.

Agents and rules-based labeling

What do the agents actually do?

An agent reads each file you send and works out what each column and value means, then generates a rule for labelling it for use in GrowthOS. You can view and edit these label rules in DataOS from the Review page.

What if an agent gets something wrong?

If any totals look incorrect, click ‘Edit Mapping’, or a specific label from the Review table. Correct it once and the correction becomes a rule that applies to every file after that.

Can I turn the agents off?

We strongly recommend using agentic labeling to make your data standardization easier. However, if you have any concerns, reach out to your Data Solutions Manager for more information.

Do the agents see my data?

The agents read your data in order to label it. They do not keep it.

We run the agents under a zero data retention agreement with our model provider. Your data goes across for processing and is discarded as soon as the labelling finishes. The provider stores none of it, trains no model on it, and puts no person in front of it for review.

Does my data train anything?

No. An agent learns how your business names things by reading your own history at the moment it labels a file. Nothing you send changes a model, and nothing you send is kept once the work is done.

Refresh and modelling

How do I refresh my data?

When you are ready to model on them, review your data on the Review page and hit Run Model.

How do I know when it’s time to refresh?

We recommend refreshing your data every 30 days. However you can request a refresh as soon as data has been supplied and labeled for a period.

What if I accidentally submit the wrong data?

Don’t worry, our usual checks and balances stay in place on every model run to ensure results are accurate and plausible. If we suspect that incorrect data has been supplied, we’ll be in touch.

Anomaly detection

What does anomaly detection do?

DataOS watches your sales figures and flags a number that moves in a way it should not. You see the flagged figures in the platform.

What do I do with an alert?

Open it. If you expected the movement, add an Event in the platform so DataOS knows about it. If you did not expect it, the figure is worth investigating. You can acknowledge an alert, or correct it by supplying new data.

Does it cover anything other than sales?

Sales data only at launch. Other data types follow later.

For Agencies

I manage several client accounts. Do they all move together?

Each client has its own DataOS instance, so each one has its own move date.

What is it like running accounts on both versions at once?

There will be some differences in the way data is managed and moves through the pipeline. However, supplying data mostly stays the same. We’ll work quickly to minimize this changeover period to avoid any confusion.

Can my accounts be moved on the same date?

Contact your Data Solutions Manager for more information.
